Rio del Mar families sell See's Candies through the See's Candies "Yum-Raising" fundraiser in the late fall. This fundraiser raises between $1350 and $3500 per year! 

How it works: Rio del Mar Elementary will take the traditional paper as well as online orders. There is a buying window in the fall for people to place their orders. The product is shipped to our school and distributed by volunteers in the MPR just before the winter break.

PHOTO DAY

A Lifetouch school portrait is more than a picture. It’s an official record of your child’s school experience. Did you know that Lifetouch gives back to Rio - we raise close to $1400!

 

How Picture Day works: Children will bring home a LifeTouch packet a few days prior to picture day. Families choose which packet meets their needs. The Kids return the packet back to school with payment, and will hand it in to one of the parent volunteers assisting the photographer.

Scholastic Book Fair

CANCELLED FALL 2020

Each fall RDMPA hosts a weeklong Scholastic Book Fair in the school library. The book fair brings the joy and excitement of reading right to our students and raises close to $3000 through the sale of books, science/craft kits, posters & fun accessories kids love! Great timing to buy holiday gifts!

 

How the Book Fair Works: The library is transformed into a bustling bookstore featuring mobile cases full of affordable books based on characters and subjects kids love and want to read about. From newly released books and best sellers to award-winning titles and perennial favorites. Scholastic provides the books, planning tools and display cases for the events, which are run by volunteer parents, teachers, and school librarians. The timing of the scholastic book fair is perfect for holiday gift shopping!

RUN 4 RIO

Cancelled for 2020

The Run 4 Rio 5k is a fun community event open to all. The goal of the run is to encourage good health while raising funds for Rio Del Mar Elementary School.

How the Run 4 Rio works:  The Run 4 Rio 5k is held on a Sunday morning in the fall at 9:00am at Seascape Park. There is also a 1k Fun Run for children 7 and under at 8:40am.

STICK IT TO HUNGER

CANCELLED FALL 2020

Past Stick it to Hunger Campaigns (we duct taped the principal to the wall!) were fun and successful food drives. In 2014, Rio families donated over 5000 meals through cash donations and filling 11 food barrels! Rio del Mar was awarded the “Spirit Award” at the Second Harvest Food Bank Annual Awards.

 

In 2015, we raised over 50,000 meals - averaging 107 meals per student (the most in the county) and were recognized for our efforts with the Biggest Leap Award and acknowledged with companies like Dominican Hospital, Plantronic and Granite.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

The Annual Harvest Festival is a community event held on campus. Fun for the whole family with a carnival setting that includes a DJ, Rockwall, Zorbs, Jumpers, Dunk Tank, Face & Hair Painting, Cake Walk, Bake Sale, BBQ and Carnival Games that the children can earn tickets and turn them in for prizes of their choice!
